Recording Data

With traditional mechanical analogue instruments it is the accepted norm to record all of your readings at the same time each morning. In the UK this is 09:00 UTC (GMT and not corrected for BST) each day.

One of the overriding benefits of Automatic Weather Stations with data loggers is the ability to record date at frequent intervals. Often as frequently as every minute. The benefit of this is the ability to represent changes in near real time, to look for effects such as rain run of and gust wind damage. One can even graphically view weather fronts passing overhead. Without denigrating either traditional or scientifically accurate equipment it is often so that the amateur enthusiast will get more pleasure out of the presentation of the information than its specific accuracy.
