Children's Weather Day at The Observatory


On 15th March Weather Shop teamed with The Observatory as part of National Science Week for a Children's Weather Day.  The morning was for 6 - 10 year olds and was a great success, enjoyed by the children and their parents!

The day covered 3 main topics of interest; making an anemometer and discussing the flow of winds, releasing a balloon to see how far they would travel (our furthest was received in Gravesend), and looking at different cloud types by drawing and creating characters for them!

Snow in Eastbourne in April!

Yesterday saw excitement for the people of Eastbourne as snow fell for several hours leaving inches of snow.  More snow fell in town affecting public transport, however in the outer areas fun was had with snow-balls and making snowmen!

Strong Winds 10th March

Sovereign Harbour, the location of Weather Shop, receiced its highest wind speed at 7.11am this morning of 66mph.  After a mid-morning bright spell, the wind and rain have returned.
