Have you ever wanted to know a little more about why we get the weather we do? Or better, to be able to forecast the weather yourself for the day ahead? It can be very satisfying to be able to look up at the sky and know that rain is likely in the next few hours, even more so to know that the official forecast was wrong and you knew better!
You may have wondered in the past what the upward pointing 'mares tails' in the sky mean, or what the line of turreted 'castle' like Clouds on the horizon could portend, at the start of a warm summers day. All these visual signs offer clues to those in the know, as to what the weather is likely to bring, sometimes in the next few days, sometimes as rapidly as the next few hours.
When you know a little more about the way the Atmosphere works then you can tell a lot simply from getting into the habit of a regular visual Observation of the sky. Adding a few weather instruments to your armory can offer even more information, that will enable you to offer people a sometimes surprising knowledge of the weather in the next few days. Add to this an understanding of the vast amount of current weather information, maps, charts and other data freely available on the net and you'll be unstoppable!
With this in mind Weather Front, the company that runs the Weather Shop, offered a series of 'Weather Days' for those who would like to know a little more about both the processes that shape our day to day weather, how we represent and map these weather patterns and how they might change in the future. The last one was on May 19th but we hope to offer more shortly.
